SUMMER AT THE HALL DANCE WORKSHOP

Exams: Saturday and Sunday, June 14 and 15 for those students who show technical and artistic preparation and theoretical knowledge for grade level
Place: Center for Terpsichorean Arts, Saint Mary’s Hall, 9401 Starcrest, San Antonio, TX
What: Classes in Cecchetti syllabi Grades I-Diploma, non-syllabi ballet, variations, pointe, jazz, modern.

· Marcia Holliman has over 36 years of experience teaching, performing and choreographing. Marcia Holliman is the founder of the Saint Mary’s hall dance program, originally established as a private business in 1982. While a student at Texas Christian University, Mrs. Holliman was the first American accepted into the Vienna Opera Ballet School, spending her junior year abroad. She has trained in Chicago with Bentley Stone and Walter Cameron, later continuing her studies with Laurent Novikoff, a partner of the famed Russian ballerina Anna Pavlova. In addition, she studied with Scott Douglas and Francisca Romanoff of American Ballet Theater.
· Dr. Kathleen Tenniswood’s teaching career spans more than 50 years at public and private schools, colleges and universities, and major dance organizations in the U.S. and Canada. She has developed curricula for dance courses in those arenas, and her historical research has been used in a video documentary, several magazine articles, and by dance scholars. Dr. Tenniswood has choreographed in a wide range of styles for regional ballet companies, American College Dance Festivals, community theater, and public and private school productions. She is in demand as a coach, examiner and lecturer in the Cecchetti Method of Classical Ballet training. Dr. Tenniswood is currently the only person to hold both an earned Ph.D. in Dance and Related Arts and the Maestro Cecchetti Diploma.
