Primary I, II and III
Primary I, II and III
Recommended Ages: 5-8
The Cecchetti Council of America offers 3 primary levels. Presently I teach the Primary Levels as 1 grade and the children stay in that class while they progress through the 3 different levels. Students are introduced to the Cecchetti Primary I, II, and III material and begin learning the concepts of alignment and rotation as well as simple exercises to reinforce these concepts. French vocabulary and English translations are used in class and the children are expected to memorize the dance vocabulary as well as learn concepts of spacing.
Children also are introduced to creative movement, mime, characterization, and understanding musical moods.
Students may take Cecchetti Primary exams but are not required to do so. I do not present children for primary exams unless they wish to go through the exam process. Parents should know that any child who presents for a Primary Exam ALWAYS passes….no matter how many errors are made. The purpose of this is to help alleviate anxiety before the student takes their Gr. I exam
