School Policies
Pure Ballet STUDIO POLICIES AND RULES
1. I do not charge a registration fee. I do not offer sibling discounts.
2. Tuition is charged on a semester basis, and monthly payments may be arranged, due at the first class of each month. Tuition will not be refunded in whole or in part once the student has been enrolled regardless of the extent of participation in the class(es).
3. Students must wear proper dance attire. Jewelry is not allowed, and long hair must be pulled back securely in a ponytail or bun. No shorts (except bike shorts) and no T-shirts are allowed. Proper dance shoes are required in all classes.
4. Students are expected to respect others and their property. All bags, shoes, and purses must be labeled with student’s name and should be kept in the classroom with the student.
5. All students ages 9 and up must take ballet exams.
6. All students should be dropped off and picked up at the door by a parent. Students must wait inside until a parent arrives, as no waiting outside is allowed for any student. Parents should pick up students promptly after class. If unavoidably detained, please contact me immediately.
7. Before class, students should wait quietly in the waiting room to be called by their teacher. I strive to begin each class on time and appreciate students arriving promptly. Parents and their other children are welcome in the waiting areas (living rooom, school room or kitchen area) during class. There is also a bathroom available for everyone. Please be respectful of the home and clean up after yourself and your children.
8. Teachers ONLY are responsible for discipline in the classroom. If a student is disruptive, he or she will be given a time-out in the classroom. If the disruptive behavior continues, the student will be removed and the parent will be notified of the misbehavior. If parents wish to observe class, please make that known before class begins.
9. It is the parent’s responsibility to notify the office of student absences (preferably in advance) so that we may schedule a make-up class. Tuition charges for missed lessons may be waived at my discretion if there are extenuating circumstances.
10. You must give 30 days notice if your child is dropping his/her class(es); without notification, you will be billed for classes because we will be holding a place in the class for your child. If a student misses more than four classes without parent notification to the office, the student will be considered dropped from the class and will be required to pay for all missed classes before they are able to rejoin the class during the same semester.
11. All food and drinks must be kept in the kitchen area. No food is allowed in the house. Please clean up after yourself, putting all trash in the proper containers. Students may bring water into the studio.
12. Siblings of students must have direct parental supervision while students are in class. I am unable to provide supervision for children not in class (with the exception of my own children).
13. Parents are required to sign a release of liability for everyone who will be on my property during class times. I do not carry insurance for the dance studio and I do not carry personal injury insurance for the students. Parents and parents alone are responsible for their children health care provisions. Should a child, or any member of your family, become injured while on my personal property, I am not, can not and will not be held liable. This is a “proceed at your own risk” studio. Failure to comply with this request will prohibit your child from being able to study at Pure Ballet.
14. Gum and smoking are not allowed in any part of the studio.
15. Exam fees are seperate fees payable to the Southwest Committee - Cecchetti Council of America. Seminar fees are to be paid in the same manner. Exam fees and seminar fees are due the first class of the month prior to the exam and or the seminar.
16. Parents are responsible for paying for any study materials the student needs. These costs are relatively cheap - just a few dollars for each grade level book. The music I use in class is also available to purchase. CD’s are $25.00 each plus shipping and handling. I do not make any profit of the sale of music and grade books.
